    You could call this your “final exam”, but it’s much more exciting than that: On our final weekend, you’ll teach your first class.

    You and your crew will design a full movement class based on what you’ve learned over the course, and you’ll take a 5-10 minute section of it to teach tag-team style to a full room. This is just enough of a ‘teaching moment’ to feel how READY you are to do this, while not being overwhelmed with designing, marketing, filling, and delivering your first class all on your own.

    We’ll spend plenty of time designing and practice-teaching this class, and you’ll invite a guest so it’ll be a lovely blend of colleagues and friends + supportive strangers-to-you (your crew’s guests) to warm you up to leading a room.

    This is always a highlight of the training (in case you’re sweating through your top right now — trust me, you’ll LOVE it).

  • When you’re Method certified, you’ll be able to teach the juiciest movement to anyone, anywhere in the world. You might roll this specialization into something you already teach (like pilates, yoga, or strength training) or design and lead pure movement classes to keep people’s joints strong and healthy for life.

    You choose the goal (EG “I want to teach a class for stiff hips”), and the Method gives you the framework to build a class based on it. Teach in studios, gyms, online, or in your own basement – the Method is flexible, so you can infuse your own style into the perfect class design, every time.

    The Method certification is registered with the Yoga Alliance as a YTT200hr yoga teacher training.

  • YES! Over the past few years, movement has emerged from elite circles like professional sports and NASA (yup, astronauts do it!) and is quickly becoming essential training for folks who want to stay active as they age. If you’re in the KW region, you can walk into almost any movement studio and tell them you’ve got training from Asia Nelson, and they’ll not only know what that means, but want you to join their team on the spot.

  • TML is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an RYS-200, which means you can register with them as an RYT-200, though this is neither necessary nor required.

    The Movement Life is an ESDC certified institution (unlike almost any other yoga teacher training in Canada), which means you won’t pay HST on your tuition, you’ll get tuition tax credits for your fees (you’re welcome).

  • Yes! If you pay by eTransfer, you can pay in any installment amounts you like, as long as your first payment is minimum $1000, and you’ve paid the full amount before our first day.

    If you want to pay using credit, by cash, or with certified cheque/money order, you’ll pay the full amount, though if you quality, you may be offered After Pay.

  • We sure do. Life doesn’t always go the way we plan: we’ve got a refund policy for that.

    • FULL REFUND (up to 30 days before the course starts): You can withdraw from the course anytime up to 30 days before we begin and get a full refund, minus the $120 processing fee. Zero stress.

    • PARTIAL REFUND (from 30 days the course start, to the Monday after our first weekend): If you come to the first weekend and decide this training isn’t a good fit for you, you can still get your money back, minus a $400 cancellation fee (as we’ll have invested time and resources based on you being there, and you’ve taken a spot we now can’t fill).

    • NO REFUNDS issued after the first weekend of the training.

  • It may seem like a strange answer, but NO! We take your practice down to the bones from the first weekend and rebuild it based on smart, science-backed knowledge. You’ll have time during the training to build the strength and experience you’ll need to teach.

    In some ways, the less ‘immersed’ in one particular way of moving you are, the better, because Method training is based on the newest movement knowledge, which means it challenges a few well-worn assumptions. Come with an open mind and a reasonably able body (be sure you’re cleared by your health team/doctor before joining if you have any concerns or known health issues), be ready and willing to do the work during the training, and you’ll do great.

  • Definitely not. Every year people take this training simply because they want to dive deeper into their movement practice or are life-long learners excited about the content and the opportunity to meet new people. I’ll warn you though: it’s very common that they change their mind and decide they really do want to teach. ;)

  • The training is self-contained, so you don’t need to do anything outside of it. You’ll get the most out of it, though, if you create space for and boundaries around the time the course takes. Book off training weekends, and have conversations with the people in your life whose support you’ll need - partners, kids, parents, friends, bosses, co-workers, etc. – so everyone knows what you can and can’t do during this time, as well as what they can do to support you.

    Other than that, MOVE! The best place to start is with a TML membership (which you’ll get for free for the duration of your training). If you want access early, just contact Asia.

  • Once you’re TML certified, you’re a Mover for life. You’ll get access to The Movement Life Facebook group for certified teachers, connecting you to your larger TML community and to Asia, where you can ask questions, share/discover teaching opportunities, and get special access to anything Asia and other Movement Lifers offer.

    You’ll also have Asia’s guidance and support for as long as you need. You’ll be able to contact her directly, anytime.

    For as long as the course exists, you’ll also have access to the course online. That means you can dive into the content year after year and update your knowledge.

  • You can miss as much of the live training as you need and still be certified as long as you successfully complete the live class teaching on our final weekend. The live class teaching showcases your skills and confirms that you’ve got a handle on the basics of the content and how to deliver it, so it’s non-negotiable.

    If you’re unavailable during the course live weekends, you have a few options:

    • the live weekends will be done online as well as in-person, so you can jump online from wherever you are.

    • Everything we do will be recorded and the videos uploaded to your online course area, so you can dive in and catch up on anything you’ve missed.

    This course takes time and commitment, and you’ll give up some freedom for a few months, but it’s doable. Many people have taken this training while raising little ones, being single parents, working full-time, traveling, dealing with health issues, even while putting together a wedding or completing a PhD!

  • The full course content will be available to you from two weeks before our first live weekend, so you can work through the content at your own pace.

    Plan for 6-7 hours of content per week for the duration of the course. Treat it like a daily video podcast/your favourite new YouTube series!

    Plan to attend as many of the live training weekends as possible; that’s your most efficient, immersive, and impactful way to learn the content.

    You should also be spending a minimum of 2hrs/wk on your movement practice to really embody what you’re learning. You get free access to The Movement Life membership during your training, which includes two live online classes a week with Asia. It’s the perfect way to complement your training weekends with practical experience.

  • This training IS for you if you:

    • want to create nourishing, goal-focused practices that help people stay active for decades, rather than just calling out rote shapes or generic, prefab routines and hoping people get something from it.

    • are done with classes that make people feel “bad at” the movement they should be loving, and driven to make your classes inclusive and inspiring instead of places where some people ‘stand out’ and others fade into the background, unseen

    • want to spend your time and money on the best training to become the best version of YOU, unbothered by ‘competition’ because you know that what you’ll offer isn’t like anything else anyone else is doing

    • trust yourself to take this chance to discover what you’re capable of

  • This training IS NOT for you if you:

    • are dogmatically dedicated to ONE way of moving. You need to be excited about the opportunity to learn new approaches, consider the latest research, and challenge what you think and believe.

    • scared to be creative. You’ll learn a smart, step-by-step way to design movement flows YOU want to teach/do. If you don’t feel excited to take what you learn and make it truly yours, this might not be your best bet.

    • want to fit in with what everyone else is doing. This training won’t make you an out-of-the-box template teacher; it’ll make you a movement rebel. That means you’ll be specialized, niche, and not everyone is going to ‘get’ what you do. You’ll know how to design classes like everyone else’s – but you probably won’t want to anymore. ;)

    • like your current comfort zone. You’ll be challenged to do a few things that scare you in this training, because that’s where real growth and strength lives.

    • want to be an employee. We’re not affiliated with just one studio or gym, so if you’re looking for a plug-n-play career, this ain’t your stop. We know this to be our strength: Method certified teachers run their classes anywhere (and they teach everywhere!); they aren’t limited to a certain style that only fits a certain studio. If you have the drive, you’ll get the skills and confidence to go well beyond what any one studio can offer you.

    • You do not need a lot of experience in movement or yoga. Your practice will evolve so much during the course, and you’ll have time to build a strong and realistic discipline. You should be familiar with basic yoga movements.

    • You will need to be in good enough health to move safely – including being on your hands/knees, and challenging your joints with bodyweight-bearing movements. If you can do a basic movement practice you feel good about, you’re ready.

    • You’ll have the opportunity to create a practice and career tailored to YOU, which means this course is inherently creative. You’ll learn EXACTLY how to build and teach great classes, and you’ll also need to LEAD: take what you learn and make it truly yours.
