I create space — in your joints, and the places in your life where you feel pain or limitations – so you can move with more power and freedom.

For over a decade I was a hardcore Ashtanga ("Power") Yoga teacher. If you wanted to push your limits and sweat ‘till you dropped, you wanted in my classes. My yoga teacher training course was filled with enthusiastic movers who couldn’t wait to lead their own hot n sweaty classes.

Then, in 2011 I had a major low back injury, and everything changed.

It was devastating. I was in intense, chronic pain. I started losing my connection to yoga, and my sense of self as a capable, healthy person. After cycles of trying to go back to how I moved before and re-injuring my back, I knew I needed to figure out a new way to take care of myself. I was tired of fearing I would be in pain forever, being less and less active, and beating my body up. I didn’t want to let go of the yoga practice I had loved. But it was time to heal.

I had to find my way across the space between how I used to move, and how I needed to move now. I needed a new practice.

MY NEW BEGINNING

That’s when I began working with back pain specialist Dr. Stu McGill, and became a multiple-certified movement specialist with Functional Range Systems (FRS). After years of investment, research, collaboration and experience, I transformed how I moved - and how I taught. And the results were beyond what I expected.

This new movement didn’t just bring me back to life, it gave my clients the active lives they loved back, too:

  • My 81-year-old client Ted got back to the nature photography he loved, but had abandoned due to a painful knee

  • My 49-year-old client Andrew got back to picking up his 8-yr-old with ease, after years of a chronic back injury had him bracing with fear instead of embracing his little boy

  • My proud-mama client Shara got back to running with her son on the weekends, something she treasured but had stopped due to worrying hip pain

These big shifts weren’t just natural outcomes of the physical practice I was teaching, because let me tell you: joint training is a lot of looking like you’re doing nothing but are actually working your ass off in there, and not everyone *loves* to get on the floor and do it (like I do). I didn’t want people feeling like they had to do this joint work; I wanted it to be the part of class they loved the most. So I drew on everything I knew from 20+ years as a sought-after yoga teacher, and I figured out how to transform basic joint work into a practice that took care of their whole selves, starting from the spaces in between their bones, where all movement emerges.

My classes became a delicious blend of intelligent, effective movement + holistic practices that taught people how to build a better relationship with themselves. And people resonated LOVED doing it, because –

It was a revolution. I’d started my own movement, with movement.

MY GREATEST CHALLENGE

So few people knew about this new movement, needlessly continuing to suffer in silence, going back to therapists or yoga classes, or pushing themselves through the pain to keep doing things they love.

I knew people didn’t need to keep suffering
doing things that don’t work,
stuck in practices that haven’t evolved.

I knew something better existed: the Method I’d designed.

And I knew that’s what YOU could be teaching.

CREATING THE METHOD

I’d created my first teacher training program - Pranalife Yoga Teacher Training - in 2008 after seeing so many teachers around me chronically enrolling in - and paying for - trainings beyond their initial YTT because they lacked confidence in their abilities. They were paralyzed by ‘imposter syndrome’, and this opportunity to live their dream life was slipping through their fingers. Some paid over $10,000 seeking what their original training failed to give them.

That bothered me. They were missing out on succeeding at this career I was so in love with. I knew I could help, so I interviewed dozens of them to better understand what would help them shed their imposter syndrome — and I built that.

Pranalife YTT was an instant success, and for over a decade I had another dream job — teaching yogis how to create their own wildly joyful careers. Every year, that course was packed with enthusiastic movers who couldn’t wait to lead their own hot n sweaty classes.

After my injury, and seeing how my new movement practice not only brought me back to life but was giving my clients their active lives back, I knew I had to evolve my yoga teacher training course to include this smarter, science-backed movement.

So I poured everything I’d learned and proven with my own clients’ successes into an evolved course: TML Method Certification.

My purpose with this training is to up-level movement wisdom, and fill movement spaces with confident instructors teaching from their own creative vision.
